About the Organization

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been a long-standing technical partner to Ethiopia’s Sustainable Land Management (SLM) program since 2008. Led by the Ministry of Agriculture, the SLM program aims to reverse land degradation, improve agricultural productivity, and benefit rural households across Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Gambella, Oromia, SNNP, and Tigray.

Through the CLM II project, GIZ focuses on institutionalizing Integrated Landscape Management (ILM) at all administrative levels to improve rural living standards, strengthen food security, and promote sustainable natural resource use in Oromia, South Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, and Sidama regions.

Job Summary

The Driver will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transportation of staff, partners, goods, and guests, while maintaining program vehicles in top operational condition.

Key Responsibilities

Safely transport staff, guests, consultants, and program goods.

Maintain accurate logbooks per GIZ transport policies.

Stay updated on road conditions for long field trips.

Ensure cleanliness and readiness of vehicles.

Prepare mileage charges for private/other program use.

Coordinate vehicle servicing and repairs.

Handle deliveries, documents, and banking tasks.

Assist in setting up materials for workshops and meetings.

Make small purchases using petty cash.

Serve passengers politely and professionally.

Qualifications

Recognized secondary school leaving qualification.

Valid 3rd grade driving license.

Strong defensive driving skills.

Basic mechanical knowledge.

Clean driving record for the last 5 years.

Ability to pass both visual and practical driving tests.

Professional Experience

At least 6 years of driving experience.

Knowledge of South Ethiopia, especially Lake Chamo catchment.

Good communication skills.

Basic MS Office skills and internet use.

Professional appearance and conduct.

Fluency in English and Amharic (other local languages a plus).
