The Addis Ababa City Administration Women’s and Children’s Social Affairs Bureau is seeking a skilled and compassionate professional to join its team as a Psychologist IV. Salary: 9,645 ETB (as per government pay scale)

Job Purpose
The Psychologist IV will be responsible for delivering professional psychological services, including counseling, mental health assessments, and crisis interventions. The position plays a vital role in supporting individuals affected by trauma, abuse, and psychosocial challenges, particularly women and children in vulnerable situations.
Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct psychological assessments and diagnose mental health issues

Provide individual and group therapy sessions
-
Design treatment plans and monitor clients’ progress
-
Offer crisis intervention and trauma-informed support
-
Work closely with social workers and other professionals in multidisciplinary teams
-
Provide training and capacity-building sessions for staff and community stakeholders
-
Develop mental health awareness programs targeting vulnerable groups
-
Maintain confidential records and prepare professional reports
-
Advocate for the inclusion of mental health support in community development programs
-
Participate in policy review, program evaluation, and mental health advocacy initiatives
Knowledge and Experience
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or Special Needs
-
Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in mental health services, clinical counseling, psychosocial support, or a related field, preferably in institutional or community-based settings
Key Skills

Strong therapeutic and diagnostic skills

In-depth understanding of trauma-informed care and mental health issues affecting women and children

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

Experience working in multidisciplinary teams

Proficiency in Amharic; English language skills are an asset

Familiarity with Ethiopian mental health policy and legal frameworks

Competence in using digital tools for documentation and case management
