Bread and Bakery Worker

The Addis Ababa City Administration Women’s and Children’s Social Affairs Bureau is currently seeking a dependable and skilled individual for the role of Bread and Bakery Worker. This role is essential in supporting the nutritional services of the center by producing fresh and hygienic baked goods for daily consumption.

Reports to: Women’s and Children’s Center Director

Location: Addis Ababa City Administration Women’s and Children’s Center

Salary: 3,583 ETB (as per government pay scale)

Position Level: IV

Number of Positions: One (1)

Job Purpose

The Bread and Bakery Worker is responsible for preparing, baking, and delivering bread and other bakery items in accordance with health and hygiene standards. The position contributes to the provision of nutritious and timely meals for the residents and staff of the center.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare dough and other bakery mixtures according to recipes and production requirements

• Bake bread and related products using ovens and appropriate equipment

• Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure quality and consistency

• Clean and maintain baking equipment and the bakery area

• Store ingredients and finished products safely and hygienically

• Assist with planning daily production quantities and managing raw materials

• Report stock levels and equipment issues to supervisors in a timely manner

• Maintain records of production and usage where required

• Adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines

• Participate in team meetings and support other kitchen activities as needed

Knowledge and Experience

• Education: Completion of 8th grade with training in bread and bakery preparation

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in a bakery or bread-making setting

Key Skills

• Knowledge of baking techniques, dough preparation, and safe oven use

• Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards

• Ability to follow recipes accurately and work independently

• Attention to detail and time management skills

• Good communication and collaboration with team members

• Physical fitness to handle bakery equipment and long working hours

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new baking methods and procedures
