The Addis Ababa City Administration Women’s and Children’s Social Affairs Bureau is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join its team in the role of Social Worker IV. Salary: 9,645 ETB (as per government pay scale)

Job Purpose
The Social Worker IV will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring social service programs that support vulnerable women and children. The role requires a high degree of empathy, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively with different sectors to improve the social and economic well-being of communities.
Duties and Responsibilities

Identify and assess the social needs of women and children in vulnerable conditions

Provide individual and group counseling services to beneficiaries
-
Design and implement intervention programs tailored to community needs

Collaborate with government institutions, NGOs, and community organizations
-
Monitor and follow up on ongoing cases and evaluate outcomes
-
Prepare detailed case reports, progress updates, and statistical data
-
Facilitate access to services such as shelter, healthcare, legal support, and education
-
Conduct community awareness programs on social protection and child safety
-
Participate in research and policy advocacy related to social welfare issues

Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all activities
Knowledge and Experience
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, Political Science, Economics, Public Administration, Gender Studies, or a closely related field.

Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in social services, preferably in a public institution or social welfare setting.
Key Skills

Strong interpersonal and case management skills

Ability to work with vulnerable populations, including women and children

Familiarity with Ethiopian social policies, welfare systems, and protection laws

Excellent communication skills in Amharic; English proficiency is an asset

Report writing, organizational, and analytical thinking abilities

Computer literacy (Word, Excel, and digital case management systems)
